Welcome!

Two books detailing my experiences - the first racing a yacht the wrong way round the world through some of the toughest waters
and the second taking on the challenge of the Arctic and 'thought to be impossible' dog-sled trail

Have you ever wanted to find out what it is like to be on a real-life adventure? Well now is your chance. I’m Rona Cant and in the year 2000 at a time when most people of my age were thinking of winding down I turned into an adventurer pushing myself to the limits and beyond and then writing about my experiences for you to share

A Challenge Too Far?

Do you want to know what it is really like to sail in a Round the World Yacht Race?  To live in close proximity with 17 other people for 10 months in extreme circumstances where you cannot get away, where there is no privacy and where your life depends on someone else? Read more….

‘A damn good book!

Just finished your book and thought I'd write and say THANKS! I'm not really a reader and usually fall asleep pretty much after a books introduction, not this time!! I don't think I moved from the spot until I'd finished. How it brought back wonderful memories ofthe heads, sail changes, reefs etc and of course the people onboard our yellow submarine!!’ Jodie Moir who was a fellow crew member on the Round Britain & Ireland Race in Association with The Daily Telegraph

Snow, Sleds & Silence - the Story of the Nordkapp Expedition

Take one Norwegian ex-Special Forces dog-sled racer, a British round-the-world yachtswoman and a South African mountaineer and set them off on an ‘impossible’ mission to the northernmost tip of Europe. You have a recipe for disaster or success – which will it be? From the experienced to the complete novice – a team of dogged explorers determined to complete a trail at the top of the world that the experienced ‘mushers’ of Norway thought was impossible.

Do you want to know what it takes to dog-sled to the northernmost tip of Europe, a trail thought to be impossible? To be in Europe’s last wilderness where there is no running water and no electricity and 26 hungry huskies waiting to be fed, where -4ºC is too hot for the dogs to run, where there is total silence, no birds, no trees just you, your 2 companions, 3 sleds and the dogs with mountain after mountain to climb to find a trail that will take you to Nordkapp? Read more….

'Well, I've finished the book, and I must be honest.................  I couldn't put it down !  It was excellent, and it certainly took me back to the C.R.UK. challenge. It has made me re- read my log and look at my photos!  I also said 'never again' but I meant it, there is no way I could have tackled what you have done, I do have stamina but not that much and certainly would not have had the strength to lift the sleds when they overturned.' Moira Furmage who sled in front of me on the CancerResearchUK Challenge dog-sledding in Lapland.
